COPENHAGEN CLIMATE SUMMIT FOR MAYORS
The Copenhagen Climate Summit for Mayors will put cities on top of the global climate agenda and send the message to the heads of state, the media and citizens that Cities act - we must, we can and we will. Half the world's population is now living in cities and the number is rapidly growing. Cities of the world are responsible for up to 80 per cent of global CO2 emissions. Any solution to the climate crisis therefore, has to involve active participation from the cities. The City of Copenhagen is looking forward to welcoming mayors from all over the world to the Copenhagen Climate Summit for Mayors in December 2009.

350.org is an international campaign dedicated to building a movement to unite the world around solutions to the climate crisis--the solutions that science and justice demand. Our mission is to inspire the world to rise to the challenge of the climate crisis—to create a new sense of urgency and of possibility for our planet. Our focus is on the number 350--as in parts per million, the level scientists have identified as the safe upper limit for CO2 in our atmosphere. But 350 is more than a number--it's a symbol of where we need to head as a planet.
